HOMEWORK
The Rooms 25 and 26 teaching team works together to coordinate tests and due dates in order to help each student
succeed. However, one hour of homework on an average school night should be expected. Also, students are
required to budget time appropriately for completing major projects, papers and reading for literacy.
Reading is a daily homework requirement. Our Literacy Framework requires 30 books read throughout the year.
(Students can read during Readers Workshop, Independent Reading and at home.) The Reading List needs to be filled
in weekly in the Agenda Planner. By November, (the first report period) students need to have ten books read,
by February (the second report period) 20 books and by May 16, all 30 books should be read.
HOMEWORK GRADING
Homework needs to be turned in on time because homework fosters self responsibility.
The grade reflects the student’s ability to turn assignments in on time.
AGENDA PLANNER
Students must keep up-to-date on assignments. An Agenda Planner has been given to each student.
Each student must bring his/her Agenda Planner to their classes daily. Please review the Planner daily
with your son or daughter. There is a place for your signature at the bottom of each day.
Please feel free to write comments to teachers on the Planner.
BOOK REPORTS
Book Report and project dates will be posted in the classroom. Each student will write the due dates
in their Weekly Planner. Late book reports and projects will not be accepted.
