Hello, Parents!

Homework—Thanks for monitoring the homework, Parents, and for encouraging your child to complete the Home Reading Record with some thoughtful writing.

Science—Science Benchmark assessments will be administered this Friday (if they arrive in time).

Math— This week, both grade levels are working on rounding and estimating, adding and subtracting larger numbers, and using mental math strategies.

Conferences—I’ll out of the classroom on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday because of my mother’s funeral and all the details that go with it.  I will be available Wednesday afternoon for the scheduled appointments.  If your Tuesday conference was cancelled, please choose another time.  Using e-mail to reschedule might work best since I won’t be in school until about 1:00 on Wednesday.

ð Field Trip—We had a great time hiking around Torrey Pines State Reserve on Friday.  Our docents helped us learn about the geologic history of the area and showed us how to identify different kinds of sandstone formations.  A beautiful osprey flew right into a Torrey Pine near the meeting area under the trees, and one group spotted a roadrunner.  The wonderful weather made it a perfect day.  Thank you to our drivers Mrs. Floyd, Mrs. Norton, Mrs. Brouard, Mrs. Wilder, and Mrs. Weis.

Remember:  cranbarger@aol.com.  I check my E-mail every morning around 3:30 A.M. without fail!  I can also be reached at school:  (619) 276-1471.
