Principal's
Message:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The holidays are quickly approaching and there is so much to be
thankful for. First I would like to thank each and every one of
you for your continued support in our efforts to give all of our
students a quality education. It is truly important for all of us
to be in synch and moving forward with our efforts of doing whats
in the best interest of all of our students. It is especially important
in this day and age when our students think they have all the answers
and dont really want to hear what adults have to say.
We have gotten off to a real fine start to the school year. Students
and staff have all adjusted well to all of the changes and expectations.
Unfortunately the district finds itself in a continued whirlwind
of financial woes. As you may have heard, all schools in the district
are experiencing a spending freeze. School sites will only be allowed
to buy the essentials needed to keep the school running and instruction
and learning happening in our classrooms. We have been very fortunate
here at Bell, although the cut backs have affected us in other ways,
as we have not had to lose any personnel.
With the change of seasons many of you will soon be shopping for
sweatshirts, hoodies, and jackets. Please keep in mind the Bell
uniform colors when making these purchases. Im asking that
outerwear be one of the primary colors of the uniform such as black,
brown, burgundy, navy blue, tan, grey or white. We truly appreciate
your support in this matter. I also encourage you to review the
school colors with your student. You can find uniform and dress
code information in your childs school planner. I have given
students lots of information on riding skateboards and scooters
to school. Although most students comply with the rules and procedures
there are still the few that just dont get it.
My staff has been informed to confiscate the scooters and/or skateboards
if the student is riding on campus. For safety reasons students
are never allowed to ride on campus. If confiscated, the item will
have to be picked up by an adult. I thank you in advance for your
support and cooperation in this matter.
One final note on safety dealing with social networking; sites like
Facebook and Myspace are becoming more and more popular with middle
graders. If your child has an account, have him/her add you to their
list of friends. (Note: they must be 13 to join.) That way, you
can see who his online friends are and keep an eye on his/her postings.
Make sure his/her profile is private and ask him/her to mark photos
so that only his friends (not friends of friends) can
view them.
Thats
about all for now, to all of our Bell families and friends I wish
all of you a very safe and happy Holiday Season.
Sincerely,
Michael
