Dress Code
Students will dress in a manner that reflects
positively on themselves, their homes, and Bell Junior
High School. Just as adults must conform to workplace
standards, so must students. Clothing must be clean and
in good repair. Shoes must have a closed heel and toe
and must be worn at all times. (Slippers and "flip-flops"
are not permitted.) Students must dress in a manner that
is not offensive or disruptive to the educational setting.
Unacceptable dress includes the following:
1.
Any clothing with body parts or undergarments inappropriately
exposed
2.
Apparel or garments displaying logos of gangs, racist
groups, obscene language, vulgar gestures, racist, ethnic
or sexist slurs, altered or customized lettering, graffiti
or gang colors
3.
Apparel or garments advertising alcohol, tobacco or drugs
4.
Do-rags and bandanas
5.
Hats and sunglasses may not be worn in buildings as a
matter of courtesy and good manners. Hats (with brims;
beanies; and skullcaps) will be permitted outside only
if they do not lead to disruptive or intimidating behavior
Consequences:
A parent contact and/or a change of clothing are required.
Continuous defiance of the dress code will result in a
referral, suspension, or lowered citizenship. Evidence
of gang affiliation on campus will lead to suspension
and/or transfer.
