Associated Student
Body
The Associated Student body is a
group of students that were chosen before the
new school year begins to represent the school.
They help the student body have fun during the
school year. Many of the activities help
students relax a little and take off the day to
day stress from school work. In other words,
they make the school year a memorable year for
all. The Associated Student Body goes on many
different field trips to learn more leadership
skills. This helps some learn to speak before
large audiences.
The ASB is composed of all
students enrolled at Bell Junior High School. ASB
officers are elected by the students and
teachers, and are expected to be exemplary role
models. The ASB leaders plan and organize all
student activities. A variety of events are
planned throughout the school year. Students who
have a 2.0 GPA in scholarship and no N's or U's
in citizenship are eligible to participate in
extra-curricular activities, such as plays,
spirit days, dances, contests, and other
exciting events.
The ASB attended the CADA
Conference. Throughout the day, the ASB
council met with students from different areas
in San Diego. They shared their ideas on how to
promote and learn different activities to bring
back to school. They also hold shadow days where
they go to Morse High School and follow someone
from that school's ASB council. The Bell ASB
also have shadow days where many elementary
schools representatives around the area join our ASB Council and shadow them in their classes!
The purpose of this event is to have a feel of
what ASB is like and also to experience a
different school atmosphere. The challenge ahead
for ASB is to fully represent the student
body.
ASB Store
The ASB operates a student store
daily before school, during lunches, and after
school from 2:10 until 2:20 p.m.
ASB Advisor
The ASB advisor supervises the
Council and makes sure that they are always on
task.
The Events/Activities
Mostly every month the ASB
council holds events such as dances, and spirit
weeks. During Spirit Week, the student council
creates many games on the circular lawn during
both lunches and has the students participate
for prizes. The dances are always an after
school activity. This event is held in the
Auditorium from 2:00 to 3:30. To be able to
attend these Dances, each student must have a
GPA of 2.0 and No N's or U's in their
citizenship. Another event are the Festivals.
These Festivals are based on seasons like:
Winter Fest and Spring Fest. This is an event
where ASB is segregated by grade level. Each
grade decides on something to sell as a
fundraiser during both lunches as well. There are
many other clubs at school that participate in
this event. Each club comes up with different
ideas. All must be approved by the Student
Council. The reason it has to go through each
approval, is to make sure that not every club is
selling the same product.
Good Deeds
The student council goes around
the school with recycling bins three days a
week, and collects items from each class that
is needed to be recycled. There is something
similar to that but happens everyday. The
student body puts out trash cans before first
lunch starts. These trash cans are not used for
trash, but for the students to put cans or
plastic bottles in. At the end of the day the
scheduled students collect the cans and sorts
them out by material. Then the ASB advisor
will take the cans or plastic bottles at the end
of every week and has them recycled. Community
Service is a big event for the student body. The
student body must have 5 hours of community
service every quarter. They have done beach
clean ups where they devote their morning to
help clean local beaches. The ASB council
awards the staff of their hard work with
Lunch-Ins and Breakfast.

The following positions are for

For each grade level there is up
to 4 advisors. Each member in ASB must
maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above with NO N's or

the Associated Student Body always has their
mind set of their school work before ASB. Each
grade plans certain types of activities for
their class, such as the Freshmen Lock-In or the
Freshmen Semi-Formal.
