Course Description: English 7 is a one-hour class that is devoted to helping students meet the California Language Arts Standards. Students read stories in the Prentice Hall textbook and are provided some independent reading time for novels. They read and respond in writing to a variety of literary genres, study new vocabulary words, present class projects and take notes and listen during presentations.
Course Objectives: Meet or exceed the California Language Arts Standards in reading, writing, speaking and listening by reading and comprehending books at or above their grade level, independently and cooperatively in small groups. Generate thesis statements that are well supported and compelling.
Course Outline: Reading and writing units of study-Persuasive Essay, Response to Literature, Research, Narrative Essay, independent reading and writing, projects.

encourage tutoring.
v Maintain communication with teacher through phone calls, emails, notes and/or conferences.

v Come to school prepared and on time
v Listen and participate in activities
