COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides specialized academic instruction in English Language Arts and is taught outside of the general education setting. The standards based curriculum is modified and adapted to meet the student’s particular needs, building on strengths while providing support in areas of need. The smaller class size allows for individualized instruction and increased teacher attention, as well as fewer distractions.

GRADES

Academic grades are based on both completion of assignments and the quality of work produced. Students are expected to make up any work missed due to absences in a timely fashion. Citizenship grades are based on points earned daily for keeping classroom and school rules. Students earn privileges based on points earned and work completed. You will be notified by a weekly progress report of your child’s performance.

F 59% & below U unsatisfactory

HOMEWORK

Students are expected to practice reading at home for 30 minutes every school night. This added practice is critical to improving fluency, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading. In holding students accountable. In addition, students will need to complete any assignments they were unable to complete in the classroom.
