The Board of Education made the following appointments 5-0, with effective dates to be determined:

Claire Moore — from Vice Principal, Sandburg Elementary to Principal, Sandburg Elementary, Institute for Learning

Jonathan McDade — from Acting Vice Principal, Adams Elementary to Vice Principal, Adams Elementary, Institute for Learning

Mary Romero-Heyne — from Principal, Garfield Elementary to Vice Principal, DePortola Middle School, Institute for Learning

Magdalena Ruvalcaba — from Acting Vice Principal, Brooklyn Elementary to Vice Principal, Brooklyn Elementary, Institute for Learning

Major Agenda Items Included:

The board voted 5-0 for the Resolution in the Matter of February 2003 as African American History Month (C.1)

The board recognized almost 400 students for academic and athletic accomplishments.

The board voted 5-0 for the approval of Student Enrollment Forecast for September 26, 2003. (E.5.f)

The board voted 3-2, with Zimmerman and de Beck voting no, for the request for extension of Federal Waiver of Certain Title I provisions. (E.7.a)

The board voted 3-2, with Zimmerman and de Beck voting no, for the budget presentation and recommendations regarding cost avoidance strategies and budget reductions for the 2002-03 school year. (F2)
