Major agenda items included:

The board voted 5-0 for the proposed lease agreements between San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Community College District for the use of Muir Alternative School Site (and the construction of a new school/middle college at Mesa College). (E.5.c)

The board voted 2-3, with Ottinger, Nakamura and Lopez voting no, for the agreement, effective July 23, 2003 through April 30, 2004, between the San Diego Unified School District and American Institutes for Research (AIR) to continue with an independent evaluation of the Blueprint for Student Success in a Standards-Based System for Year Three (during the 2002-03 academic year), with a final three-year summary report due by March 31, 2004. (the item failed) (E.6.r)

The board voted 3-2, with de Beck and Zimmerman voting no, for the proposal to close the Whittier Child Development Center effective on or before August 31, 2003. (E.6.s)

The board voted 5-0 for the proposal to name the King/Logan Area Elementary School (Laura G. Rodriguez Elementary School), the Kennedy Knox Area Elementary School (Wally J. Porter Elementary School ) and the field at Torrey Pines Elementary School (Alex Szekely Family Memorial Sports Complex.). (E.9.a)

The board voted 4-1, with de Beck voting no, for the recommended plans for reapportionment of trustee districts. The board chose map 2B. (G.2 )
