JROTC
To motivate young people to become better citizens.

jrotcProgram Description
The Crawford Educational Complex is proud of our Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps program. Our program prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilies, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school and provides instuction and rewarding opportunities.

Enrollment
JROTC needs at least 100 cadets in the program. Failure to sustain 100 cadet will result in the program being placed on probation and ultimately closed after one year of not achieving minimum standards. There are more than 5,000 schools on a waiting list for a JROTC program across the U.S. The JROTC program at Crawford will be placed on probation unless all of us make an effort to increase the number of cadets from 53 to 100. Once a program is closed, there is very little chance of getting it back on campus.

Benefits

  • Allows students an alternative way to get P.E. credit
  • Emphasizes citizenship, while teaching leadership, discipline, and organization
  • If students decide to enter the armed forces, they can make approximately $450.00 dollars more each month for taking JROTC classes.
  • Provides color guard for various school events. JROTC also provides a coordinated workforce to perform as escorts, ushers, guides for special events.
  • Gives cadets the opportunity to compete on a variety of JROTC drill and physical fitness teams.
  • Encourages students to maintain high grades and apply for college scholarships.

picnicSocial Activities
Cadets may join the JROTC Cadet Club, our district organization that plans, organizes, and runs a fall picnic, a military ball in the spring and a five-day summer camp. Cadets will be issued two uniforms; one will be a U.S. Army cadet uniform at no cost. They are expected to wear this uniform every Wednesday. The other uniform is a physical fitness shirt (they can purchase at a nominal fee). This shirt would be worn Monday and Friday for physical training.

Please note: Joining AJROTC DOES NOT put your student in the military. It also does not mean your student is obligated to join the military.
