Rithyvanna SaoPrior to taking on this project, I imagined an easy 4 to 5 week work period.  Instead, going the alternate route, we were on a rocky road for the whole semester.  I was under the impression that the workload would be much less than it really was.  Having done this experience, I know now what it’s like to build an entire website with an actual client.

We started off creating an assorted amount of layouts considering as to where the banner could possibly be placed.  We then made a couple of possible banners for the different layouts we built.  We also asked Abigail Barron, outside of the group, to make a banner for us.  Although her banners were delightful, we ended up selecting the banner that My Nguyen created.  My Nguyen is an alumna of the Multimedia and Visual Arts School, a former student of Ms. Lake.  Abigail made some slight changes to the banner due to spelling and we also placed the schools in alphabetical order.  Later, we also considered cutting down the banner height by taking off the acronyms.

Gathering the information we needed was the hardest part of all because we wanted to get all of the information at the same time but sometimes, they didn’t have the information we needed.  We split up the work by assigning each other different pages to insert the information.

Taking on this project, I learned how to take harsh critique and use it to make the website better.  I learned how to work together on the website and to split up the work so that we get it done much faster.  I also learned that it’s best to check your website in many different places with different types of computers because, although it may look immaculate on yours, there may be minor defects on others’ computers.
