Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests
Form 700 (2006-2007),
the Statement of Economic Interests, must be filed annually by designated
district employees. The form can be accessed online at the Fair
Political Practices Commission website. Additional information

What is Form 700? |
| A.
The Political Reform Act of 1974 (Government Code section 81000 et.
seq.), approved by initiative, includes a requirement that local government
entities, such as school districts, adopt a conflict of interest code.
The district’s code must list positions that involve making
decisions that could affect the individual’s personal economic
interests. People in these positions must periodically disclose income
they receive from certain other sources. This disclosure is made on
Form 700. |

Who needs to file Form 700? |
| A.
The persons in positions listed in the district’s conflict of
interest code must complete and file Form 700. A list of these designated
positions is on Attachment

What information is required on Form 700? |
| A.
Form 700 may require disclosure of sources of income from certain
types of investments, interests in real property, income and business
positions. Form 700 contains detailed instructions about when disclosure
is required in each reportable category. |

When and where does Form 700 need to be filed? |
| A.
An individual must file within 30 days of assuming or leaving a designated
position. Those in designated positions must file Form 700 annually
in April. District governing board members, officers, and employees
must file Form 700 with the district’s Office of General Counsel
located in Room 2148 of the Education Center, 4100 Normal Street,
San Diego, California. A filed Form 700 is a public record available
for review by any member of the public. |
