The Federal and Special Programs division provides supplemental supports and services to students, parents, and schools and is responsible to the district for the oversight of federal and state categorical services. This division is dedicated to working collaboratively with parents, school staff, and administrators to analyze student achievement, program design and implementation, effectiveness of instructional programs and initiatives, assessments, district professional development and support strategies in order to provide the educational services needed, as well as meet all compliance requirements.
The Federal and Special Programs division oversees state funded Early Childhood Education programs and Parent Involvement and Engagement programs as well as the implementation of all Titles in No Child Left Behind (NCLB), including Title I schools, NCLB Private School Service, Program Improvement School Programs, Supplemental Educational Services and other Intervention Programs such as SAIT and High Priority. This division is responsible for the LEA Plan and coordinates the District/School Liaison Team (DSLT), NCLB Leadership Team, state and federal compliance monitoring visits for the district, and provides training to administrators and various governance committees such as School Site Councils (SSC) and the District Advisory Council (DAC). This division also supports and provides direction to schools related to their Single Plan for Student Achievement and corresponding categorical budgets as well as the implementation of major district interventions such as Program Improvement and Response to Intervention.
The goal of the Federal and Special Programs division is to ensure that students with the greatest needs have direct access to supplemental educational services and supports from the various categorical programs in order to make gains in academics that result in closing the achievement gap.
