Community-Based English Tutoring (CBET) Program
The CBET program offers parents and community members the opportunity to receive up to eight hours of English instruction and family literacy strategies weekly. In exchange, program participants pledge to provide personal English language tutoring to K-12 students with limited English proficiency. The San Diego Unified School District and the San Diego Community College District jointly operate the program. Primetime (formerly 6 to 6)
The Primetime Program provides elementary and middle school students in Grades K-9 a safe, supervised environment in which to participate in before and after school academic support and enrichment activities. The program is open every regular school day and is provided at no cost to students at qualifying schools. The program includes 60-90 minutes of academic instruction, homework assistance, and/or tutoring; enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, organized sports, music, theater, or dance; and activities to develop leadership and social skills. It is staffed at 15 students to one adult at the elementary level, and 20 students to one adult at the middle level. Before school programs operate for a minimum of 90 minutes, and are available at most, but not all sites, with varying start times. After school programs begin when school is dismissed and are in session until at least 6:00 p.m. each day.

Two sessions are being offered for elementary and middle Special Education students with extended year marked on their IEPs. Students may attend EITHER Session 1 from June 22 July 17, OR Session 2 from July 27 August 21. - Special Education - High School:
One session is being offered from June 22 July 31 for high school Special Education Students with extended year marked on their IEPs. - General Education Elementary & Middle
One session is being offered for elementary and middle students recommended for retention in Grades 1, 3 and 8, and to students scoring below and far below basic in Language Arts and Mathematics in Grades 1, 3, 5/6 (at elementary sites only) and 8. The session will be held from July 27 August 21, and will allow eligible students the opportunity to attend Summer School the closest open neighborhood school, regardless of track (traditional or year-round schedule). - General Education - High School:
One session is being offered from June 22-July 31 for students in grades 9-12 who need to make up D and F grades in core courses.

Extended Day Reading and Math Programs (EDRP/EDMP)
The primary objective of the Extended Day Reading and Math Programs is to strengthen the reading and math skills of students in Grades 1-8, accelerate student progress, and ensure acquisition of strong grade-level skills. The program is designed to assist students who score below or significantly below grade level on assessments by providing a 20:1 student-teacher ratio, 60-90 minutes of support each day, two to four days per week, for 20 to 25 weeks each semester.
The opportunity to make up semester credits in the core areas of English, math, science, and social studies is offered to students in Grades 10-12. Students can make up a full semester credit with a passing grade of C or higher to meet high school graduation requirements. Classes are offered after the regular school day with a student-teacher ratio of 20:1. A minimum of 60 hours of attendance is required to complete a course credit. Each session is held for six weeks, four days per week, two and a half hours per day.
The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) Preparation Program is designed to improve student achievement in Grades 9-12 in the areas of math and English/language arts and prepare students for the high school exit exam. Classes are offered before or after the regular school day, with a student to teacher ratio of 20:1. Each session is generally held for six weeks, four days per week, two and a half hours per day, but may vary depending upon the level of support needed for students to pass the CAHSEE.
