This is My Planet - What's the Matter? - It's Alive - Environmentalism

    This year, we will be incorporating the fascinating study of science in our rotation.  The students will be covering Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science through demonstrations, research and hands-on experiments.  They will be meeting the newly adopted district materials and text.  Science will come alive with this exciting challenging program.


 


 
Planet

This is My Planet, Course given by;

Mrs. Deborah Whitehurst

    Did you know that the water that you brushed your teeth with this morning might have been around since the time of the dinosaurs?  You will, after you explore the fascinating area of Earth Science.  You will be learning about the properties of water and the sources of water for Southern California.  We'll also be exploring weather patterns, the Earth's atmosphere, and studying the amazing solar system.  Bring your curiosity and get ready to experiment!

What's the Matter?, Course given by;

    Which candy bar has greater density, Snickers or Three Musketeers?  In this course we will learn about matter, energy, and resources.  We will use the scientific method to explore concepts such as mass, weight, volume, and density.  Additionally, we will experiment to learn about the state of matter, physical and chemical changes, atoms and elements, kinetic and potential energy, and fossil fuels,  The students will collaborate to create hands-on scientific experiments to test these concepts.


Safe the Environment

It's Alive!, Course given by

Ms. Leigh Morioka

Did you know that plants transport the food made in their leaves through their phloem?  We will explore all the different parts of plants and systems of animals in this exciting seminar about living things.  Using the scientific method, we will conduct  experiments to discover
fascinating concepts about nature.  We will research cells, functions and classification to understand biology in a whole new light.  We'll discover how trees show how old they are, why leaves are green and what villi are.  You will be amazed at how fascinating life is in this wild
and crazy  learning seminar about living things.

Hola - Hello!

The Spanish Academy is an exploration of the Spanish Language and culture.  Instruction will be based on the standards and criteria established by the Foreign Language Framework of the State Department of Education.

Simple words and phrases will be presented.  Common vocabulary which is useful and of high interest will be covered.  Different elements of culture ranging from art and crafts, to food, celebrations, and traditions will be experienced and discussed depending upon the time of the year and time available.

We will be using a textbook lost of hands-on fun experiences, and a language immersion model will be used as much as possible.
