LED Exit Signs

LED Exit Sign

Our old exit signs used to use two 20-Watt incandescent lamps for a total of 40-Watts electrical consumption per sign. Incandescent lamps have comparatively short lamp life and were frequently burning out. This not only created a lot of work for the custodians who had to change the light bulbs all the time, but it also created a safety hazard if there was ever an emergency and the exit signs were not working properly. It also cost the district more money in electricity bills. Operation and repair of these lamps cost approximately $75.00 per year per sign. With the new red LED (Light Emitting Diode) exit signs, the operation and repair costs dropped to $2.45 per year. The lamp (light-bulb) life went from 3,000 hours with the incandescent to 87,600 hours with the LED!
