Longfellow Spanish Immersion School is a total Spanish immersion program.  A total  Spanish immersion program is one where students receive instruction in the target language only, in our case Spanish, for the first few years of their schooling.  At Longfellow Spanish Immersion School, formal English instruction begins at grade three.  The delivery of English instruction is achieved through team teaching among Spanish teachers or by an English teacher.

Mission and Vision Statements

Our school mission is to provide a nurturing environment of academic excellence which provides for the development of a responsible cross-cultural world citizen
with an enriched understanding of self and others.

Our school vision is to improve student achievement in Spanish and in English for all children by improving teaching in a powerful community of learners.

Longfellow Spanish Language Immersion Magnet offers K-8 students a research-proven method for English-speaking students to develop bilingual and biliterate proficiency in Spanish and English. Students in K-1 receive all instruction in Spanish while Grades 2-8 have instruction in Spanish and English. Rigorous basic skills in both languages are emphasized throughout all grades, and enrichment opportunities are available through an Art Corp program and music instruction.

Features:
