Jean Farb Middle School is named in honor of Mrs. Jean Farb.

Mrs. Jean Farb was a native of Washington, but lived in San Diego for thirty-four years where she was active in many civic organizations.

Mrs. Farb and her husband were named Honorary Members of the Friends of Mercy, in recognition of their many contributions to Mercy Hospital.  Mrs. Farb was an active member of the Mercy Hospital Auxilary, and achieved the status of "Life Member."  In October, 1971, she served as co-chair of the Mercy Ball & Art Auction, Mercy Hospital's primary annual fund-raiser.  In 1972 she served as Patrons Chair of the Mercy Ball, in 1973,  as Printing Chair, and in 1974 as Invitations Chair.

Mrs. Farb was active in a number of other community organizations, including the Women's Association of the Salk Institute, Mercy Ball Advisory Committee, Women's Division of the United Jewish Foundation, and Salvation Army's Auxiliary for the Door of Hope. Mrs. Farb received several awards for her leadership in these charities.

Mrs. Farb was a caring, generous humanitarian and a fine example for all our students.
