SDUSD Detective Named Peace Officer of the Year
Troy HollidaySDUSD Police Department Detective Troy Holliday will be among 16 outstanding law enforcement officers being honored at the 18th Annual Peace Officer of the Year Awards on Friday, May 22, at the NTC Promenade. During the 2007-08 school year, Det. Holliday was assigned to investigate a series of copper wire and pipe thefts from schools and other facilities, which had resulted in a quarter million dollar loss to the district. He is credited with writing and executing seven search warrants, nine probation searches and making eight felony arrests before bringing this crime spree to a halt. For his dedication and outstanding investigation skills, Det. Holliday is being honored as the 2009 Peace Officer of the Year.  For more information, please contact Don Braun, chief, police service department, at (619) 725-8000.
Breakfast in the Classroom Continues Successful Rollout
The Breakfast in the Classroom (BIC) Program continues to spread to elementary schools throughout the district. In addition to the BIC program, Food Services continues to introduce salad bars at schools, which offer even more nutritious food choices to the regular menu. Wangenheim Middle School is the latest school to add a salad bar. For more information, please contact Sally Spero, food services planning supervisor, at (858) 627-7306, or Gary Petill, director, food services department, at (858) 627-7301.
