Swimming lessons are an important part of our athletics program. In the spring each year, our physical education teachers, along with other certified aquatics instructors in the community, provide three weeks of swimming instruction at the local pool. After a short bus ride to the pool, students participate in a thirty-minute lesson geared to multiple ability levels.
Students are encouraged to wear their swimsuits under regular clothing on the way to school. They will change into dry clothing after the lesson. The pool managers insist on appropriate swimming attire. Girls are to wear a one-piece swimsuit. T-shirts and cut-off shorts are not allowed.
Physical education teachers will send home a schedule and more information about this activity after the spring break.
All students are expected to participate in the swimming program unless they have a documented medical excuse. Parents are welcome to come and observe the lessons.
The pool is located at the La Mesa Community Service Center , 5100 Memorial Drive in La Mesa . Call (619) 667-1494 for more information. Click here to get information on the Aquatics Program at the municipal pool. For directions to the pool, click here.
