If you have Issues with your child's bus driver, please contact the City School's main Transportation Department directly.
Green handles all issues related to behavior of Green School students on the bus and any changes in address pickup changes.
Riding the School Bus
We expect all students riding the bus to demonstrate safe behaviors at all times:
- Use the handrail to get on and off the bus.
- Remain seated facing forward when the bus is in motion.
- Do not eat or drink on the bus.
- Do not lower or raise the windows.
- Do not put arms outside the windows.
- Speak softly, use quiet voices and appropriate language.
- Do not throw anything out the window.
- Do not bring electronic games or tape-players on the bus.
- Follow the driver’s instructions the first time.
- Be respectful to students and adults.
- If a student has a problem we expect the student to talk to the driver about the concern, prior to bringing it to the attention of the school.
Protocol for Bus Behavior
- The driver has the right to assign seats on the bus.
- If the student does not comply with posted/expected bus rules, a referral describing the incident occurs.
- Parents will be contacted every time a driver identifies a student with inappropriate behavior.
- School will arrange a conference to solve problems that arise.
Disciplinary Action on the bus
If a student’s behavior is unacceptable, or the above rules are broken, the driver will write a referral and give it to the bus liaison. The following action will be taken:
- 1st Referral – A parent contact is made. Warning or possible bus riding suspension.
- 2nd Referral – Parent contact made. Warning or possible bus riding suspension.
- 3rd Referral – Two day bus suspension.
- 4th Referral – Five day bus riding suspension.
- 5th Offense – Balance of school year bus suspension.
- Threatened or actual bodily harm – Immediate student suspension.
School buses with red lights flashing may NOT be passed.
Please avoid Wandermere Dr. during the following hours:
7:15 – 7:30am Mon. - Fri.
11:15 – 11:30am Wednesday
2:15 – 2:30pm Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri.
Please DO NOT drop students off in front of school in the “Bus Loading” red zone.
We want all parents to be able to pick up and drop off their children in the most efficient means possible with safety in mind. This includes not impeding the many school buses that stop on Wandermere and Belle Glade. However, this can become a problem when buses must avoid passenger vehicles stopped beside the school along Wandermere. Please do not stop along the north side of Wandermere (red zone) as the buses need this area for their use. Likewise, we ask that you not stop in the red zone of the Green parking lot. There is a 3-minute white curb area for loading and unloading in the lot. Photos of these areas are included below. San Diego Police have been vigorously enforcing these red zone areas. Thank you for your cooperation.

The San Diego Police Department limits bicycle riding to and from school to fourth and fifth graders at elementary schools. Bicycles must be licensed and locked in the bicycle racks. The State of California requires that a person under the age of eighteen wear a safety helmet while riding a bicycle.
The big rule here is to ALWAYS use the crosswalks! Thank you.
