Garfield High School Overview Garfield is one of San Diego's three continuation high schools. It offers a flexible, supportive and challenging educational environment that encourages students to strive for academic excellence and become not only life long learners, but responsible citizens as well. The proximity to San Diego City College enables staff collaboration at both campuses, and is an important element in our ability to offer students the attention and services they need to successfully complete their high school education and make the transition to post-secondary education. Programs A number of strategic programs are in place to help students reach their maximum potential: Giving Everyone a New Educational Start In School (GENESIS) While in GENESIS, students explore study skills, problem-solving, goal-setting, conflict-resolution, gang prevention, career exploration, communication skill buildings and respect for adults and each other. Operation Restart: A Contract Learning Experience (ORACLE) The ORACLE Program offers all basic courses required to meet high school diploma requirements in grades 9-12. The strength of the ORACLE program is the diversity of courses designed for independent study to meet the various interests of the students. City Middle College/Joint Diploma Program Through the Middle College program Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Garfield's ROP Culinary Arts and Event Planning classes works with top chefs from the Cohn Restaurant Group on the highly successful annual Thanksgiving Gourmet Luncheon, a fundraiser for the Garfield High School Foundation. Students also prepare and box 200 Thanksgiving lunches for some of our homeless citizens.
