From automobiles to lasers, televisions to zippers, inventions and new designs make our lives more comfortable, stimulating and efficient. The Invention and Design Educational Academy (IDEA) provides students with personalized opportunities to explore their community, country, and world, as well as their own lives as shaped by new inventions and technology. We provide students with the opportunity to work on real world and inquiry-oriented projects throughout the college preparatory curriculum in a smaller, more personalized learning environment.

NASCAR Champ Jimmie Johnson Finishes Strong for Schools
On November 30th, fourth-consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, San Diego native Jimmie Johnson announced donations totaling up to $922,000. It was for the 2009 Jimmie Johnson Foundation/Lowe's Toolbox for Education Champions Grants. IDEA received $32,495. The money will help students for those who want a career in technical education that relates to transportation and alternative fuels. This will be instructed by Carl Kingsbury and Greg Quirin. The students that will be enrolled in automotive classes will learn to convert gasoline powered engines to operate on cleaner, alternative fuels.
