The state of the art Knox Video Studio houses studio cameras, video and digital recording cameras, multimedia presentation systems, and also includes digital and S-VHS editing equipment.
The studio is used to broadcast a weekly news show, the Knox News, produced by Knox Video Club students. Classrooms also use the Knox Video Studio to produce, record, or broadcast plays, readers theater, and other events.
Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students can apply to become a member of the Knox Video Club. Students learn how to operate the equipment and how to produce a news show. Knox Video Club students produce the Knox News Show, filling the positions of anchors, camera operators, computer operator, videotape operator, audio and director. The students prepare for the show by interviewing staff and students, videotaping classroom activities and writing the script. Knox Video Club students are responsible for researching, filming and producing specific segments of the weekly news broadcast. These students also film special events and activities in classrooms or on the campus.
Teachers can also bring their classes to the studio to work on special video projects with the help of the Media Production Specialist. Students create ideas, learn to write scripts, rehearse and present their final project on video, both in the classroom or in the Video Studio. It can then be presented to the entire school as part of the Knox News Show.
All the classrooms at Knox can tune in to KTV-3, the school's closed-circuit TV channel, to hear announcements and see videotaped or live activities from around the school.
