There are help sheets in the Group Shared Folder found in your Documents Folder. Check those out for information on

  • how to print,
  • how to save your work,
  • what to do if the server goes down,
  • software availablity
  • software job aides

Dark Monitor? Check the monitor brightness control button on the front of your computer

No Sound? Go to the control panel: Monitors & Sound and check that Mute is not selected. Older computers have volume control button on the front of the machine.

Computer or printer problems?- check all connections if your computer is not working properly! Physically check the electrical connection (including the power strip-try changing the outlet), the keyboard, mouse and any other cables. Many times these become loosened and your problem is quickly resolved :-)

If you still cannot resolve a computer or printer problem, fill out a repair request form (available in the lab and in the workroom). Or better yet- email us! Be very concise when explaining the situation. The more information you give, the more quickly your problem will be resolved.

Printing: Go to the chooser and select the appropriate print driver on the left side of the screen, then select the desired printer on the right side of the screen. You may need to build a desktop printer.

*AppleWorks is the new version of ClarisWorks.

*Spellcheck by going to the
Edit Menu: Writing Tools: Check Document Spelling

Be sure to check your "Group Shared" folder which can be found in your documents folder when you log in to your computer as a staff member. Open the "TECH INFO" folder and you'll find several helpful handouts!
