PTA every child. one voice. The PTA's Mission

The primary purpose of the Parent, Teacher, Association (PTA) nationwide is to promote the welfare of children in the home, school and community. This year’s annual goals for Language Academy PTA are:

  • Provide support for the teachers and classroom during the instructional day.
  • Furnish an extensive selection of Spanish and French books, magazines, CD-Roms and reference materials at our Fall and Summer Book Fairs.
  • Provide arts enrichment for the students in the form of Art Works, our grass roots art program.
  • Sponsor engaging assemblies by bringing local performing artists to our school.
  • Continue efforts to improve community relations and awareness.
  • Increase parental involvement in PTA.
  • The PTA Executive Board meets monthly to organize and carry out the PTA objectives for the year. There are also regular general meetings at which expenses, student programs, and activities are approved as well as timely parent programs discussing issues related to our children’s education.

For more information on the PTA visit the Ninth District PTA website at www.ninthdistrictpta.org, the California State PTA website at www.capta.org, or the National PTA website at www.pta.org

Art Works

The first ArtWorks parent training will be Monday, Sept 28 in the Parent Center (B-1). 2nd and 3rd grade parents will meet from 9-10am, and 4th & 5th grade parents meet 10-11am. If you are new and would like more information, please read on.

Volunters Needed

We are looking for parents to teach seven pre-selected projects in the 2nd through 5th grade classrooms. Training for projects is required. Our goal is to have two to three parents for each lesson. Projects will be once a month, culminating in an Art Show during the Multicultural Fair.

Parents should have enthusiasm for art, comfort level working with the children and willingness to support creativity. We will train you for the rest and provide materials.

Time commitment is three hours a project: one hour for a training session and two hours in the classroom at a scheduled time agreed to with the teacher. This is a great way to do something fun with the students in your child’s class, get to know them, and meet other active parents!

SIGN UP IN CLASS ON BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT or contact Janine Perrill at (858) 874-2539 or neener1@ix.netcom.com

A reminder to all volunteers. Be sure that your volunteer paperwork is complete, your TB test is current and please sign in at the front office each time you enter the campus to volunteer.
