Parent Pick-up Rules, Dos and Don’ts

For those families who choose to pick up your child at school, please follow the following Parent Pick-up area rules and procedures:

  1. Only pick up your child in the designated parent pick-up area. Please do not arrange to pick up your child in another part of the school, unless you park your car in the neighborhood and walk in to the school.
  2. Drive slowly at all times in the parking lot area.
  3. Stay in your vehicle, and drive up to the loading area to have your student board from there (but not until after the yellow posts). Do not have your child board in any other area of the parking lot or parent pickup area (when there is a very long line that is not moving we will have student safety patrol leaders escort students to the cars by the yellow poles).
  4. Pull all the way up when you are in line; please do not block the flow of traffic by having your child board your car before pulling all the way up.
  5. DO NOT have your child walk between cars or through the parking lot, unless you have parked off campus and you are personally escorting them.
  6. Stay in line; do not double park in the middle of the parking lot (remember that teachers are parked in the parking stalls and need to have space to pull out too).
  7. Always be cooperative with the adults and the safety leaders working out there. They are working very hard to maintain a safe environment for everyone and it is just plain rude and unsafe to disregard their requests.
  8. If your child is not in parent pick-up when you arrive, please drive through and go around again. When you wait, you hold up the whole line and it really does not take that long to go around again when everyone is following this rule.
  9. Middle school students are dismissed at 3:46 and elementary school students are dismissed at 3:35. Please pick up your child accordingly and there won’t be any unnecessary waiting.
  10. Please do not pull behind or block staff parking stalls and have your children come to you there. You could be taking a teacher’s parking spot, or you might cause traffic confusion in our parent pickup area. It is much simpler to get in line and follow the same rules everyone else does.
  11. Remember, if your child normally rides the bus or goes to 6 to 6 and you are picking up your child as an unusual circumstance, you must contact Chantal (619-582-5398) and notify her in advance or see her right away for a “pick-up slip.”
