Welcome to the Mason Elementary web site. Mason is a single-track, year-round school located on San Ramon Drive in Mira Mesa, close to Mira Mesa High School.
Mason's mission is to support the district in the
concept that every child will learn to his or her maximum potential in a
safe, orderly, and nurturing environment. Our goals are to provide a
quality instructional program, provide maximum opportunities for
students to learn, show academic progress in all curricular areas,
provide a high level of instruction that addresses the individual needs
of all students, continue an accountability process in literacy and math
that focuses on high standards and grade-level expectations,
provide opportunities for teachers, administrators, and parents to learn
effective strategies to enhance student success, and to continue a
shared decision-making process that involves parents, teachers, and
administrators.
Character Traits
The character trait for March is Honesty.
Principal Corner March
I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to my
Mason Lions. The last few years, you have done a terrific job on your
California State tests resulting in Mason being recognized as a school
making significant academic gains. We will formally be recognized for
earning the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award by the State
Superintendent of schools on April 21. This is quite an honor and I am
very proud of the hard work that our students, staff, and parents have
done to make this possible. This is a collective effort and is evidence
that we achieve more when we work together. Way to go Lions!
Thank you to the parents who are teaching their children to follow the
traffic rules. This helps ensure the safety of our children. Parents who
continue to ignore these rules put all of our children at risk.
Remember, our “children listen to what we say…but they watch what we
do.”
It is vital that Lions focus on developing positive attitudes toward
people, the environment, the world, and learning. Our Character Traits
can be found on the Mason website and in the school calendar. When
reinforced at home and in the community, these attitudes become second
nature for our children. As Gandhi said, “we must be the change that we
wish to see in the world.”
I want to remind our families that WE NEED YOU! There are many things
that we wish to accomplish at Mason for our children. There are two
events that we could really use your support with. The first is the
“Taste of Mira Mesa” on April 6 from 6:00-8:00. Help your child’s grade
level to create a basket for the silent auction. Mason will receive 100%
of the proceeds earned. Another way that you can support this function
is to purchase a ticket to attend the dinner. There will be many local
vendors present and many food choices to make. Since this is our spring
break, we will be providing free child care with the purchase of a
ticket to the event. You go and have dinner while the kids enjoy pizza,
popcorn and a movie under our supervision. What an opportunity! The
second function that we could use your help with is the Mason Clean up
day on March 6th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a time when we do our
spring cleaning and beautify our school. We really need all Hands on
Deck for this event. Remember, TOGETHER WE WILL ACHIEVE MORE!
I am very grateful that we have such hard working students and families
here at Mason! It is already March and we are on vacation from March
29-April 17! I know that our Lions will continue to work hard and do
their best work because we still have so much to do before State Testing
(STAR) in June. We are winners and we need to continue to excel at high
levels! Mason Lions do their best each and every day!
For our children,
