Congratulations

Amber Lundskog

(Scripps Ranch High)

for winning the 2004 CIF SoCal State Individual Tournament.

Amber Lundskog last year became our first four year graduate of our prestigious Girls Golf City Conference. She was a great example of how character, talent, and hard work can result in success on and off the course. She not only became our most decorated golfer in City Conference history last year, she was a great role model to all of our younger players. She is currently continuing her golf excellence at Vanderbilt University. We will miss this impressive young golfer and lady immensely. We thank for four great years, helping to turn our new conference into a major success story.

2005 City Conference Tournament Results

Day One (Balboa Municipal)

As expected, the 2005 City Conference Tournament was another smash hit. This two day shootout, featuring 48 of the top players in San Diego, proved to be one of the most exciting and closely fought competitions in our conferences five year history.

Our first group descends from the heavens to Balboa's 1st tee, by taking the path least traveled (for a reason girls !!!).

Meet the 2005 City Conference Tournament Field

Sarah Fogerty , our regular season scoring champion, gets the tournament off to a great start at Balboa's majestic first hole. Sarah is flanked by Nabeelah Mohideen, Erin Clyke, and Angelica Villareal. All four advanced to the championship round at Riverwalk.

Day one featured strong performances across the board, with 12 players finishing with scores 90 or better. Pictured below is senior Lucy Mcgovern (CCHS) attacking the per 3 13th with style. Lucy advanced to the finals for the 4th staight year.

Pictured below is Liz Ferry (of Eastern League Champion OLP) demonstrating perfect form in challenging the difficult 6th hole at Balboa.

Day Two (Riverwalk)

Day two, the top 12 players from day one moved to the challenging Riverwalk layout in Mission Valley. First off the tee was CCHS Senior Lucy McGovern, on another glorious day for golf..

Group #4 Featured Lucy McGovern, Bridget Killgallon, and Nabeelah Mohideen

Group #3 Featured Angelica Villareal, Gina Ybarra, and Jillian Bruni

OLP's Gina Ybarra and CCHS's Jillian Bruni look on, as CCHS's Angelica Villareal displays great form of the first tee.

Group #2 Featured Taylor Doyle, Sara Fogerty, and Claire McGovern

La Jolla's Taylor Doyle show off her technique on the challenging par 3 8th.

Group #1 featured our 1st day leaders Christy Fogerty, April Segovia, and Erin Clyke

Featured below is our #1 group at the 18th (on the Presidio Course), finishing up another great day of competition. Christians Erin Cylke sinks her final put to wrap up a tie for third place in the tournament. CCHS's April Segovia (tied for 3'rd place) and Pt. Loma's freshman sensation Christy Fogerty (2'nd place) watch as our tournament comes to an exciting end.

Congratulations to our 2005 City Conference Medalists

Regular Season Review

The 2005 is under way with a whole new crop of talented players and a few new teams. We even have a new name. USDHS has moved to the North County and resurfaced as CCHS. No matter what name you call them, talented is probably their most fitting name. As if they were not talented enough, they had to go out and add a couple of sensational freshman to their starting 6.

After the first 6 weeks of play, CCHS is still undefeated and alone at the top of the Western League. The victories include triumphs over some of the top teams in the county. Given that they are in one of the strongest leagues in the county, they appear to be ready for a run at the CIF team title. Not far behind are perennial western league powers, La Jolla, Coronado, and Scripps. All three are posting one strong round after another. When all shakes out, one of them will probably earn a wild card spot to compete for a team title at CIF.

CCHS coach Grazier sets the tone for the 2005 season. He seems to be pointing towards Fassion Valley. Good coaches know how to motivate.

CCHS strikes first to kick off conference play for 2005. Returning star Angelica Villareal sets the tone for the 2005 season, with a great drive on the first hole at Riverwalk.

Picture above are the high powered La Jolla girls, teeing off the 1'st tee at Torrey North.

In the Eastern League, OLP is setting the standard for excellence. Let by Senior Lisa Yang, OLP has been posting one strong score after another. Look for them to represent the Eastern League in style at CIF. Mira Mesa (with only one league loss) is not far behind. Catching OLP though, will still be a major challenge.

Pictured above is the always shy Lisa Yang, as helps she lead OLP to victory over Mira Mesa.

The New Girls on the Block

Newcomer Christian High has opened some eyes, with two bright young stars.Erin Clyke and Allison Lee. Look for both of these girls to make a run in our conference tournament and CIF. Pictured below is Christian teeing off at the majestic 3'rd hole at Torrey South.

Another newcomer San Diego also has burst onto the scene this year. Pictured below is San Diego taking on Mira Mesa at the always difficult Balboa Park. Look for these girls to be a force sometime soon.
