Muirlands Foundation
Who
are we?
The
Muirlands Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit fundraising organization
dedicated
to enhancing middle school for our students, staff and parents.
What do we do?
We raise money to
provide financial support for a wide variety of
causes: computers and technology, the computer technician’s salary, a
portion
of the nurse’s salary, class sets of text books (so your child can keep
a book
at home), field trips, student organizations, clubs, student lockers,
special
events, classroom supplies, and the list goes on.

We
also sponsor the annual Sunset at the Cove gathering, which provides
you the
opportunity to meet your child's teachers. Save the Date: Sunset
at the
Cove, September 21, 2005 from 5-7:30 pm.
Where &
when do we meet?
We meet at school in
Room 301 on the first Tuesday of the month
with the exception of September. We will meet on September 13th at 7pm
in Room
301 and everyone is welcome. Other
meetings are:
October 4, 2005
January 3,
2006 April 4,
2006
November
1, 2005
February 7, 2006
May 2, 2006
December

March 7, 2006

Why do we do it?
The
Foundation does its best to fund the necessities and extras that the
district
doesn’t provide.
How we do it?
We do
it with your help and support. We can change things for the
better, but we cannot do it without you. This year, our
fundraising activities will include: sale of
ceramic tiles, sweatshirts and T-shirts, Pizza Wednesdays, a Country
Club
Luncheon Boutique in November, and Casino Night in February. And please do not forget to sign up for escrip (see below)

LOCKERS
Did
you know that Muirlands Middle School is one of the few middle schools
in the
San Diego Unified School District to offer lockers to its students? Several years ago, new student lockers were
installed on campus through the combined efforts of the PTA, the
Muirlands
Foundation, the ASB, parents, and a Las Patronas grant. The students
benefit greatly
by not having
to carry all their books during the school day, but parents now have
the
responsibility to maintain the lockers. To
cover the repair and maintenance expenses, we ask each family to pay an
annual fee of $10.00 per each child's locker.
Upon
completion of the locker form, please
return it as directed, together with a
check made payable to The Muirlands Foundation.
Tile Fundraising
Project
The
Muirlands Foundation will be selling ceramic
tiles for $50 starting at Registration. When you purchase a tile,
you
will get directions, a brush and the necessary glazes to create your
masterpiece. After you finish glazing your tile, you can return
it to the
Front Office in the box marked “Tiles”. It will then be fired and
mounted on
the exterior wall of our Auditorium. Don't be left out, leave a lasting
mark at
Muirlands. Print an ORDER FORM
and return it to the office (or mail to the Muirlands Foundation, 1056
Nautilus St., La Jolla, CA 92037) with your payment.
Sweatshirt and
T-Shirt Sales
Thanks
to Steve Pomerenke and a group of dedicated students, we now have an
incredible
mural on the front of our school. If you have not seen it yet,
check it
out: these waves are “killer”. The Foundation will be
selling
Hoodies and T’s with a graphic from our fantastic new mural on the
back.
These are so cool, you have to have one! Catch the Wave.
Sales will
begin at Registration. Print
an ORDER FORM and return it to the
office (or mail to the Muirlands Foundation, 1056 Nautilus St., La
Jolla, CA 92037) with your payment.

What
is eScrip? EScrip
is a hassle-free way for schools to raise funds through everyday
purchases made at eScrip merchants. All at no cost to you!
How
does it work? EScrip and over
150 merchant
partners have created a system that rewards customer loyalty by
contributing
percentage of purchases to the Muirlands Foundation (up to 2% of all
your
grocery purchases at Vons, between 2 and 10% at other participating
merchants.)
You shop the way you like to shop (grocery shopping, buying clothes,
travel and
entertainment). It’s simple and convenient! All you need to do is
register your
grocery club card and debit/credit card(s).
