“California has already delayed the exit exam for two years,” said Superintendent Carl A. Cohn. “It’s time to get on with it.”

The state’s highest court agrees that passage of the exit exam is now required to receive a high school diploma.

In San Diego City Schools, all requirements for graduation – including passing the exit exam – must be met in order to participate in commencement ceremonies.

Results of the latest exit exam, taken in May 2006, will not be available prior to June commencement ceremonies. Seniors who pass that exam will be able to attend a special summer commencement ceremony being planned for August 2006.
