2005-06 Teacher Inquiry Project Results Released

More than 140 district teachers and staff developers participated in the 2005-2006 Teacher Inquiry Project, a unique action research project for teachers to identify what prevents students from learning optimally. Participants were asked to:

Pose questions about their teaching practice
Test theories through planning and instruction
Gather and analyze data
Reach conclusions based on findings
Derive implications for changing practice
Put new learning into practice that ensures student academic success

Teacher and staff developer participants came from 19 elementary and middle schools throughout San Diego City Schools, ranging in years of experience from one to 42, with the majority of participants having spent at least 10 years in the district, and from areas including Special Education, GATE and the English Learner program.
