Overview
Athletes for Education (AFE) and the San Diego Unified School District present Camp Leon. This program is offered to middle school boys and girls teaches basic life skills training in a camp setting.
Camp Leon, named after former NFL player Leon White, will provide selected students with the opportunity to interact with professional, college, and high school athletes, while participating in a variety of physical fitness, sports and team-building activities. The goal of the camp is to motivate students to succeed in school, to strengthen self-esteem, to inspire them to follow their dreams and reward student achievement. Criteria for the selection of participation might include improvement in reading level, improved attendance, increased motivation and attititude toward academics and improved citizenship.
