Asset Management means managing and tracking the purchase and retention of physical goods (items) that are non-consumable, and that cost more than $500 per unit. Assets are goods we buy and keep, such as computers, furniture, or large appliances. Other goods that cost less than $500 per unit (like a computer mouse, for example) are not usually Assets. (They are only considered Assets if you buy them as part of a package that includes an Asset item). Consumable goods such as pencils, notebooks, or food are not Assets either.
When you buy an Asset item using eProcurement, you must use an Asset Category (which automatically uses an Asset Account number).
We have training materials and online animated tutorials that show you how to order Asset items, as well as how to pick the right Category when creating the order. The training materials include the eProcurement 8.9 training manual, and various Job Aids (cheat sheets with illustrated steps).
