Dear Pershing Families,
Your child should
arrive home this Thursday, May 21, with his or her fifth report card
for this year. Hard work pays off and your kids have been working very
hard. I know that there will be lots of proud families as the number
of A's and B's earned continues to inch up. Please call us on Friday
if you have not received your child's report card.
Pershing's outstanding science, technology, engineering and
mathematics
program has earned us recognition. We now will be known as a STEM
school
(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and will receive
additional
resources to better prepare our students for high school and beyond.
Next year our students will use computers more extensively as learning
and production tools. Some classrooms will receive better
projection systems and better video equipment. Futurologists
tell us that students with a strong background in the four critical
STEM areas, along with solid skills in reading and writing, will have
an advantage in our increasing competitive world.
It is wonderful to work with teachers whose dedication to giving
children the very best has earned Pershing this new distinction as a
STEM school.
Thank you for your enthusiastic support of your children and of our
school,
Sarah
Sullivan
Principal
PS: Our drama and music
programs are intact and will continue to complement our STEM work in
the coming year.
