Overview
As a community service to our parents and families, San Diego Unified maintains a partial listing of free and low-cost summer resources. The list includes youth programs, safety tips, health and wellness resources, and employment opportunities. These resources are independent, community-based and are not run by the district.
Summer Youth Camps and Programs:
Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego (Grades 1-6):
Summer Camp programs at 12 locations. Fees cover a free lunch, free snack & a free weekly field trip. Financial assistance available.
Camp Fire USA Summer Programs (Pre-K to 9th Grade):
Scholarships available based on financial need.
City of San Diego Recreation Centers (Starting at age 3 years):
Recreation centers throughout the city offer a variety of recreation activities, including summer youth programs.
Disaster Camp (Ages 14-22)
June 27 - Learn all about the American Red Cross and how to be a volunteer. Flyer

Girl Scouts (For girls ages 5 to 17 years):
Teen leadership positions, adult volunteer opportunities, and financial assistance available.
Salvation Army Day Camp (Ages 4-13 years):
A limited number of partially funded scholarships are available
Summer Reading Program
The San Diego Public Library is running a Summer Reading Program between June 15 and August 15.

YMCA of San Diego County (Ages 5-12 years): Youth programs and camps available at more than 15 locations around San Diego County. Financial assistance available.

Kids to Camp Program:
Provides camperships so children from low income families can attend a Day Camp, or Resident Camp
Pro Kids Golf (Ages 7 to 17 years):
Provide a safe and fun environment where underserved kids can learn the game of golf and develop values and life skills that will aid them in their future endeavors.
San Diego Youth and Community Services:
Two National Football League (NFL) Youth Education Town Centers are high-tech educational and recreational centers located in City Heights and Golden Hills. All of the services are free of charge and available to anyone between the ages of 9 and 17. Those who are over 18-years old can participate as a volunteer mentor.
Star/PAL (Ages 9 to 14 years):
Provides free youth programs and positive interaction with committed volunteers that include law enforcement officers and firefighters.
- KidsCare Express
Provides health services to medically underserved children and youth.
