Awards
And Honors
In October 2005, the Public Relations
Society of America
gave the Proposition MM Communications Program the Edward L. Bernays
Mark of Excellence award for being the best public relations program for
a non-profit/government organization in San Diego. The award recognizes
superior practices in the research, planning, execution and evaluation
of a communications program. Proposition MM was recognized for its
comprehensive approach to informing
the San Diego community of the positive progress being made by
Proposition MM; involving the San Diego community in critical issues
and decisions; and effectively integrating broad strategies including
media exposure, special events, issues management and community
relations. The awards program is the public relations industry's
highest and most comprehensive form of recognition in the San Diego
region.
The San
Diego County Taxpayers' Association gave Proposition MM
its coveted Grand Golden Watchdog Award in 2005 -- the highest award
given -- for exemplfying efficient use of taxpayers' dollars. Read
the news release.
The San
Diego County Taxpayers' Association chose Proposition MM
as
the recipient of a Regional Golden Watchdog Award in 2002 for effective
management and efficient use of taxpayers' dollars. Read
the news release.
In
June 2002,
the San Diego chapter of the American Planning Association gave
a first place award to the Proposition MM New Schools Site Selection
Process.
The award is given for the school district's approach to selecting
sites
for new Proposition MM schools. The district's approach dovetails the
highest
quality of environmental review (technical analysis of potential sites)
with collaboration with community planning groups, neighbors and
parents. Read
the news release.
Proposition
MM was honored as a finalist in an awards competition for commitment to
diversity. The San Diego Business Journal's Multicultural Awards
2003
"honors San Diego's most prestigious firms for their commitment to
diversity
in their organization and their community." Proposition MM was one of
50
area organizations honored for its minority business outreach efforts,
engaging diverse communities, and creative partnerships with key
agencies. Read
the fact sheet about Proposition MM's business outreach efforts.
Engineering
News Record (ENR), a leading national publication of the
construction
industry, released its list of Top 25 Newsmakers of 2003 which
includes
Lou Smith, chief operating officer of Facilities Management. The list,
created by the editors of ENR, is comprised of "leaders who serve the
best
interests of the construction industry." All leaders named in the list
are also nominees for ENR's Award of Excellence, which will be
announced
in April. Read
