The primary
purpose of Sandburg Elementary School’s Dad’s Club is to provide
an easy and fun way for parents to become more involved in their
children’s life at school. Although we focus primarily upon
including dads, mothers are welcome also. If you have a child
at Sandburg, please feel free to attend one of the regular Dad’s
Club meetings, or come to one of our special events. We’d be
happy to have you join the Dad’s Club, but it’s OK to just come
and have some fun with your child at any of our functions.
The Dad’s Club
puts on several special events throughout the school year.
For
example, one morning before school we have Donuts with Dads: a
chance to enjoy some delicious donuts and meet some of your
children’s friends and other Sandburg Dads. We also sponsor an
Astronomy Night where a local astronomy club brings their
telescopes for us all to view the stars and planets. Similar
events are spread throughout the year.
In addition to
our own special events the Dad’s Club also lends a hand at other
school functions. We help at Sandburg’s Beautification Day, we
provide volunteers to help the teachers supervise the playground
during recess, and we provide our muscle whenever needed at the
many events sponsored by Sandburg’s excellent PTA.
Along the way
we get a chance to know our children and their friends a little
better, and to enhance their experience at Sandburg. Ultimately
we hope to help our kids do better academically, and help them
understand the importance of leadership, good citizenship, and
community service. And let's not forget – we make sure
that we have a lot of fun while we’re at it.
To sign up for
the Dad’s Club, provide us with your contact information on the
forms provided at all of our special events, or send your name,
phone number, and email address to
sandburg-dads@san.rr.com.
