Academic Tips for the Month:
Family Tip:
Did you know your children watch everything you do? They
watch how you problem solve and they listen to your tone,
word choice, and actions when you are with people. They
watch you every day . . . they watch and learn
from you. You are their role model from the day they
are born. Raising a child who uses good manners,
sportsmanship and interacts positively around others is
a reflection of you, the parents. When your child comes to
school they are expected to follow life skills, use manners,
know the difference between right and wrong, and be socially
appropriate around their new school mates and teachers.
Help us help your children by ensuring the bridge between
home and school is solid in working towards the same goals.
Raising children to be productive, successful, contributing
citizens and future leaders in this great nation of ours
should be your top priority despite the challenges in your
life. If you need some helpful tips in any area related to
your child’s educational experiences please notify your
teacher. Together we can continue to build or keep the
bridge strong!
Welcome
to the beautiful month of November. This month designates
the end of the first trimester. Standards Based Report
Cards (SBRC) will be issued and you will be invited to your
child’s parent-teacher conferences. These conferences will
be held during the week of November 16-20. All school
days that week will be minimum days (lunch included) –
school will dismiss at
12:00 noon.
Our schools
continue to get hit by the ongoing budget crisis. Part of
our initiative to reduce costs is to go
GREEN with our
communication and homework packets. I strongly encourage
you to visit our website,
www.sandi.net/sandburg, as much as you can for
updates, calendar changes, and upcoming events. I would
also encourage you to log onto the district website,
www.sandi.net for district updates re: H1N1, events,
budget, Board of Education Decisions, etc. that directly
impact your school. If you do not have access to email
please notify the girls in the office and we will make a
note to get you the information in another way.
I want to
thank Mike Davis (HEROES) and Jon Labaw for arranging for
the painting of our auditorium a couple of weeks ago. We had
about 5 parents show up to help beautify the walls. They
look great and have created a warm environment for our
entire Tiger community to enjoy. If you are not aware of the
special projects HEROES does for our area please seek out
their website. We are so lucky to have them as our Sandburg
friends for our ongoing projects. I would also like to
thank PTA for sponsoring yet another fun-filled Fall
Carnival - Nina Haynes was in charge this year – way to go
Nina, PTA Board and team!! Our after-school classes are
extremely successful – the children love them and are
learning so much! We are adding 2 more classes to choose
from (Computer and Singing) for the next trimester – details
have been distributed. Thank you to our Foundation board
members for your hard work and dedication in getting this
done! Together this community rocks! Our parent groups
are always looking for new members – please, please think
about volunteering your time in support of Sandburg. We
need you!
Keep your
child’s scholarly learning and citizenship in the forefront
of your priorities – I know we do as Team Sandburg
Elementary. I look forward to continuing our work together
this year!
From my Heart with Sandburg
Tiger Pride!
