The May flowers are in full
bloom especially around Sandburg. I want to personally
thank all of our Sandburg families, friends and staff who
helped Spruce Up Sandburg on April 21. Angela Halpin
organized a fabulous day and for that we are eternally
grateful. Her organization and planning skills encouraged
almost 300 people to attend and donate their precious and
valuable time. Thank you to all those parents who helped
facilitate the day with the importing of dirt, the making of
tiles, the coordination of food and the overseeing of all
the projects. On behalf of the Sandburg Staff, our sincere
thanks and gratitude for enhancing our Tiger learning
environment. Tiger Pride is a bloomin’ everyday!
Our
instructional hard work came to the ultimate test during our
recent California Standardized Tests. The testing window
was May 1-11. These tests are challenging and require the
students to focus on the knowledge and skills they have
acquired over the years. Even though Sandburg is one of the
highest achieving schools in the District we always strive
to do better. Of course, we couldn’t continue to excel
without the support you give at home. The bridge between
home and school must stay strong in order for continuous
growth in achievement to take place. As a family, your job
responsibilities are tough, not only are you providing
financially for the overall well being of your children but
you must be their cheerleader, advocate and supporter of
their education. We appreciate the support you give your
children.
The annual
Multi-Cultural Fair was fabulous again this year. Thank you
PTA for all of your hard work – Rosalina Baines was the
chair again this year – congratulations on yet another
wonderful event! Dad’s Club Astronomy Night turned out a
very large crowd of stargazers. Thank you to the Dads for
providing that opportunity! Remember to visit our web site
to see updated pictures of fun times at Sandburg.
Our school
“Safety First Campaign” continues to be our priority. Thank
you so much for honoring the changes that have taken place
with the front gates. It is mandatory for all visitors to
sign in at the main office and obtain a visitor’s badge.
Thank you for supporting the overall safety of our staff and
students!
We look
forward to having our Sandburg families gather together for
our annual Spring Open House and Art Show on
Thursday, May 17 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. You will have a
chance to view student art work in the auditorium and then
take a tour of the classrooms to view student work. It is a
great night to celebrate another year of academic growth and
character development. We would also like to invite you to
our annual Concert on the Green on Wednesday, May 23
at 6:00pm. This is a magical musical night presented by our
student band and orchestra under the direction of our expert
music teachers: Steve Luchs and Harvey Tellinghuisen.
Enjoy the
spring time! Be safe, happy and healthy!
