New Registration Application for Scheduling Professional Development

Register for Training using ERO On August 1, 2009, the Information Technology Division and all departments that administer District Professional Development and Training activated a new web-based system called Electronic Registrar On-Line (ERO).
This is now the only way to register for Professional Development training sessions.
You can access ERO’s login page directly by going to http://sandi.net/ero. It is recommended that you review the job aid available at http://sandi.net/spedprofdev/training/ERO_jobaid.pdf before logging in.
If you have a particular training interest offered by SDUSD (or if you want further information regarding different training subject areas), click the related link below to access the specific training pages. Each page includes a link to the ERO login page and an accompanying job aid to help you with using the system.
For general assistance with ERO, please contact the IT HelpDesk at 619-725-7500 and an IT representative will assist you.
3 Day Literacy Institute

Presented by Dr. Liz Keefe - this three-day workshop is based on the premise that all students can and do benefit from literacy instruction. Participants will develop the skills needed to design and implement evidence-based strategies to assess and teach literacy skills to individuals with significant disabilities.

Summer Autism Institute Training

To All Special Education Staff:
The Autism Institute at the University of San Diego (USD) presents national and international experts to talk about personalized supports and instruction for children, adolescents and adults with learning, sensory, and movement differences. USD and SDUSD have collaborated to present The Summer Autism Institute "Together We Can Do It! Building Personalized Supports and Instruction Through Relationships and Collaboration" on June 24-26, 2009 at USD.
SDUSD will pay the conference fee for 100 district staff to attend and will also offer a limited number of free scholarships to parents. See flyer for more information and registration.

Collaboration in the IEP Environment - May

Nick Martin, founder and President of The Center for Accord, Inc., is a staff development and conflict resolution specialist with extensive experience in building strong teams while minimizing conflict. He will be presenting a 2-day training session on Collaboration in the IEP Environment. See attached flyer for further information.
This training is designed for school teams. Each site may send one 4-member team, which may include administrators, special education teachers, related service staff, or general education teachers. Participants must attend both days.
These workshops will be held from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM on May 27-28, 2009. Substitutes will be funded by the Special Education Division. Registration deadline is May 22, 2009.

California Modified Assessment (CMA) Reminders
CMA Eligibility Criteria forms must be turned in by Friday, November 14. Be sure to include the case manager's name and school on the form. Forms may be found at http://www.sandi.net/depts/specialed/Other/CMA_Criteria_for_IEP_Teams.pdf.
