Veterans Day Holiday

All schools and central offices will be closed tomorrow, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Changes to District 403(B) Plan

On January 1, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will implement new regulations regarding employee 403(b) retirement plans. These new IRS regulations require the district to collect and consolidate any activity that occurs in any 403(b) account for every participant. All district-approved 403(b) providers have been asked to provide this data electronically directly to our third party administrator. Failure to comply by January 1, 2009, will result in the 403(b) plan provider being removed from the district approved provider list. A few providers will be able to meet these new requirements, however most will not and will be removed from the approved provider list.  If at a future date, a provider is able to meet the requirements they can be re-approved and added back to the approved provider list.  If an employee’s provider is not on the district approved provider list, contributions must stop. Once the provider is re-approved, contributions can begin again.

Employees who participate in the district’s 403(b) retirement plan should check the current approved provider list on the district website. Fiscal Control will continue to update the list as changes occur. For information or with questions, call Deanne Maier at (619) 725-7670 or Susan Freedman at (619) 725-7672.

Address, Social Security Number for Year-end W2 Forms

Employees should verify that their correct address and social security number are on file to make sure they receive their year-end W2 form in January 2009. Information can be verified and corrected, as needed, online using employee self-service at https://dwa.sandi.net. Sign- on > Select PeopleSoft under the Menu section > Human Resources 8.9 > Self Service under Menu > Personal Information. Corrections and changes can also be made via written request to the Human Resources Department, Room 1241 at the Ed Center.

New Version of the Budget Transaction Detail Report

An improved Fall 2008 version of the Budget Transaction Detail Report will be available in PeopleSoft – EPM on Monday, November 17. Located in Report Manager, it will include summarization by major account and better utilization of page space, resulting in less paper if printed. Changes to the run control page were designed to decrease the ability to choose incorrect parameters that could potentially lead to long-running and incorrect report requests. Please create a new Run Control ID the first time you run this new Fall 2008 version of the Budget Transaction Detail. Click here for the new Job Aid for the Budget Transaction Detail Report. For information, contact your Budget Analyst Adobe PDF for any questions.
