New IMC Circulation System

The Instructional Media Center (IMC) and all school libraries will be migrating to a new web-based circulation system this summer.  All materials checked out from the IMC or a school library will need to be returned no later than the last day of school. This will facilitate a smooth transition from Horizon to the new system. With questions, contact your school library staff or Martha Karanopoulos at the IMC at (858) 496-8439.

PPO Zone Migration

Physical Plant Operations Center (PPO) has completed its migration to a zone configuration which allows for better communication and responsiveness to its customers. Zone-based supervisors from the landscape, custodial, and maintenance programs meet on a weekly basis in an unprecedented coordination effort. See the current Zone Management Chart Adobe PDF online. For additional information, contact Ted Doughty, Jr., zone manager, Physical Plant Operations Center, at (858) 637-6289 or tdoughtyjr@sandi.net.

Newly Adopted Instructional Materials

The Board of Education recently adopted new instructional materials in the following curriculum areas: English language arts; language acquisition/world languages; mathematics; science; and visual and performing arts. For a complete list of courses, see the 2009-2010 Textbook Adoption Fact Sheet Adobe PDF. New instructional materials are available for review Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., in the Instructional Materials Department at the IMC. For more information, contact Robin Clabaugh (858) 496-8466 or rclabaugh@sandi.net.

Williams Legislation – Sufficiency of Instructional Materials

School sites and principals are reminded that sites need to certify sufficiency of instructional materials for 2009-10 by early September. The Education Code Section 60119 defines “sufficient textbooks or instructional materials” as each pupil, including English learners, having a textbook or instructional materials, or both, to use in class and to take home in English Language Arts, Science, History/Social Science, Mathematics, and World Language and Health for grades 9-12.  As a planning tool, a list of our current, adopted materials by course can be found on the Instructional Materials Department website under Forms/References>Textbook Ordering Workshop Packets>Adopted Titles. For additional information, contact Denise Hankins at (858) 627-7564 or dhankins@sandi.net.
