Track Meet 2009 – Thursday April 23
- Students who have qualified for one or more event and crew members report to advisory teacher and listen to the morning announcements like a normal day. However, after announcements, these students will report to the locker rooms and remain in the PE area for the whole day.
- Participating students have been checked for academic and citizenship eligibility, but teachers are not required to allow students to participate. Therefore, students must check with all of their teachers to be sure that they are permitted to miss class.
- On April 22 (Wednesday), students should take their PE clothes home so they can wear the track T-shirt, PE shorts, socks and athletic shoes to school on April 23.
- Bring a large, healthy lunch which includes snacks, water and sports drinks. All participants will have first lunch. Students can go to the regular lunch area or stay in the PE area during lunch.
- Some shade and sunscreen will be provided but sunscreen should be applied before school as well. Hats are OK but teachers will not be able to secure them while students are participating.
- Parents are invited to watch the track meet and are encouraged to bring water, sports drinks and healthy snacks for their child(ren) and friends. If parents would like to donate water, drinks or snacks before the event, they can be brought to room 202 (boys PE office) on Tuesday the 21st or Wednesday the 22nd at 8:45 – 9:00, 12:25 – 12:50 or 3:15 – 3:30.
Schedule of Events
1. Field Events 9:15 – 11:00. All field events will be run at the same time in the following order:
6th, 7th and then 8th grade
- High Jump
- Long Jump
- Shot Put
2. Mile and Sprints 10:30 – 12:15
- Both will run 6th, 7th and then 8th grade
3. 450 Meter Run 11:30 – 12:15
- 6th and maybe 7th grade before lunch
4. LUNCH 12:15 – 12:50
5. 450 Meter Run continued 1:00 – 2:15
- Finish 7th and then 8th grade
5. Relays 2:20 – 3:40
- 6th, 7th and then 8th grade
