Making pottery involves learning a number of somewhat demanding skills. The word ceramic can be traced back to the Greek term kermanos, meaning “a potter” or “pottery.” As an introduction to pottery, students are provided a basic grounding in the fundamentals of ceramics. Students are introduced to the many different construction techniques, as well as, becoming familiar with the many glazes and tools that potters use. They have an opportunity to create their own piece of pottery - molding, crafting and painting their work from start to finish.
