STAR Update
Dear Principals and STAR Test Site Coordinators for TRADITIONAL calendar schools:
The STAR testing window is right around the corner. This email contains important information to assist you in your planning and preparation for the STAR test administration.
v Administrative Circular No. 81, Spring 2009 DISTRICTWIDE TESTING FOR GRADES 2-11 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program, was posted last week on March 18, 2009. You can find the circular at: http://www.sandi.net/staff/circulars/0809/index.html .
v Delivery Schedule for STAR Materials: The STAR test materials for traditional schools will be delivered to schools beginning next week. If your school has a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday truck delivery day, your materials will be delivered before Spring Break (4/1/09, 4/2/09, 4/3/09). If your school has a Monday or Tuesday truck delivery day, your materials will be delivered after Spring Break (4/13/09, 4/14/09). Please alert your BSS to the impending arrival of these materials. If you have any questions regarding your materials you can contact Denise Ormsbee at (619) 725-7059 or dormsbee@sandi.net.
v Nuts & Bolts Training Sessions:
The STAR “Nuts and Bolts” Training Sessions for Site Test Coordinators at TRADITIONAL calendar schools are scheduled for mid-April. See the attached flyer for more details. Please attend one of the training sessions or send someone from your site to attend. If you are unable to attend your school’s designated training, you may attend any of the other sessions scheduled.
v STAR Examiner Training: Training Examiners/Proctors before the testing window is one of the responsibilities of the Site Test Coordinator. In order to help plan for your site’s required STAR training for teachers, I’ve created a “STAR Examiner Training Checklist”. Please use the attached document to ensure that all pertinent topics are covered with your staff during training.
Please contact me or Denise Ormsbee at dormsbee@sandi.net if you have any questions about the upcoming STAR testing window.
Thank you.
