STAR Update

Dear Principals and/or STAR Site Coordinators:
 
We have received several reports of test publisher errors in some of the STAR materials. Please double-check your Grade 2 CST test booklets to ensure you have only one version for your school. If you find that your school has more than one version for the Grade 2 CST, please contact me ASAP.
 
Additionally, we have found a few Grade 4 CMA test booklets (version 3) with pages of questions missing.  Please contact me immediately, if you find discrepancies or books with missing pages.

STAR Update

Dear Principals and STAR Test Coordinators for YEAR ROUND calendar schools:
 
The STAR testing window for YEAR ROUND schools is right around the corner.  This email contains important information to assist you in your planning and preparation for the STAR test administration.
 
Administrative Circular No. 81, Spring 2009 DISTRICTWIDE TESTING FOR GRADES 2-11 Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program, was posted on March 18, 2009.  You can find the circular at http://www.sandi.net/staff/circulars/0809/index.html .
 
·       Nuts & Bolts Training Sessions:  The STAR “Nuts and Bolts” Training Sessions for Site Test Coordinators at YEAR ROUND calendar schools are scheduled for May 5 and May 7.  See the attached flyer for more details.  Please attend one of the training sessions or send someone from your site to attend.  If you are unable to attend your school’s designated training, you may attend the other session scheduled.

·       Delivery Schedule for YR STAR Materials:  The STAR test materials for YEAR ROUND schools will be delivered to schools beginning May 14 via truck delivery.  Please alert your BSS to the impending arrival of these materials.  If you have any questions regarding your materials you may contact Denise Ormsbee at (619) 725-7059 or dormsbee@sandi.net.

·       STAR Examiner Training: Training Examiners/Proctors before the testing window is one of the responsibilities of the Site Test Coordinator.  In order to help plan for your site’s required STAR training for teachers, I’ve created a “STAR Examiner Training Checklist”.  Please use the attached document to ensure that all pertinent topics are covered with your staff during training.

STAR Update

Dear Principals and/or STAR Site Test Coordinators at TRADITIONAL schools:

The Pre-ID late labels and demographic guides for schools on a TRADITIONAL calendar are ready for pick-up in Annex 3, beginning TODAY, April 22, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily. The late labels are for those students who enrolled in your school between February 12, 2009 and April 10, 2009.  The demographic guides to be used to hand-grid the answer documents are for students enrolled between April 13, 2009 and April 22, 2009.  

The following schools do not have late labels and demographic guides: Crown Point Elementary, Curie Elementary, Green Elementary, Pacific Beach Elementary, Grant, Kearny DM & D, and Early College.

STAR Update

Dear Principals and STAR Site Test Coordinators:
 
I want to remind you that the Grade 2 Directions for Administration (DFA) booklets are secure and may NOT be distributed to teachers before the first day of testing.  There is a non-secure version of the Grade 2 DFA that you may hand out before testing so that teachers can familiarize themselves with the directions.   The non-secure Grade 2 DFA can be found at http://www.startest.org/cst.html. If you decide to use the non-secure Grade 2 DFAs with teachers, make sure they use the secure version during testing.
