  1. Congratulations to our Wildcats of the Month for November:  Ahna H, Nicholas P, Maria S, Anthony N and Sarah M.  You will be taken out to lunch by Mr. Jackson. (Mrs. Sloan)
  2. Steven C (8th Grade Advanced Science student) is conducting an experiment involving the weights of student back packs.  If you would like to participate, see Steven outside of the counseling center every morning (11/16-11/20) from 7:00 – 7:20 a.m.  (Mr. Resovsky)
  3. Cookie dough distribution will be on Wednesday 11/18 after school in the activity room from 1:30 - 4:30 pm.  PLEASE pick up all your cookie dough!  The school doesn't have any cool storage space.  If you have a large order you will need to have your parents or a buddy to help you carry all your boxes.  (ASB)
  4. Thanksgiving Grams will be on sale Monday and Tuesday on the lunch court for $1.50.  Grams will be delivered on Thursday and Friday.  (ASB)

  1. One of our students lost a ring in the PE locker room on Thurs. Nov. 5thIt’s fairly large, gold and has a turtle on it. It used to belong to her grandmother and is very important to her.  Any help finding this ring would be greatly appreciated.  If you have any information regarding this ring, please come to the office and talk with Mrs. Lemmon.   1. Mondays at both lunches- CLUB LIVE- Room 403.  Bring a pass from your teacher, or just sign in at Rm. 403 if you are a Club Live member.  Bring your lunch and play games, do art projects, kick back and chat!  (Ms. Peterson and Ms. Fis)
  2. Rubio's fundraising night:  Everybody come to Rubio's Mira Mesa tonight, Monday Nov. 2nd!  Bring your flyer and come support our 8th grade trip! (Ms. Chambless)
  3. 8th graders going on the East Coast trip, there will be a quick 10 minute meeting on Thursday 2:20-2:30 in Room 903 with Miss Chambless and Mrs Leonard.  (Ms. Chambless)
  4. The winners of the Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest are Ben N (1st Place - $30), Jenniffer R and Lany D (2nd Place - $20), and tied for third are David R and Monet-C D (3rd Place - $10 each).   These students creatively related in their drawings what it meant to them to be drug-free.  (Ms. Moreno)
  5. The winners of the Red Ribbon Week Pizza Party Raffle are Autumn J, Lilly F, Alexc O, Ethan C, Jonathon B, Austin M, Marie R, Aaron K, Elijah S, Zakia A, Thalia G, Maydelin S, Jenniffer R, William T, and Sarah M.  These students will receive an invitation to a pizza party hosted by Ms. Moreno and ASB.  (Ms. Moreno)

  1. WMS Students and Staff:  I appreciate everyone taking time last Friday to help me celebrate the counseling office dedication in my name.  Wangenheim students, my family thought you were all very polite and well behaved.  (I said, "Of course, they're WMS students....THE BEST!)  The WMS band and chorus played and sang beautifully...you brought tears to my eyes.  I look forward to seeing everyone around campus as I volunteer in the office and with the PTSA.  Thank you for a day I will never forget.  ;-) Susan G. Porter-Wangenheim Counseling Secretary 1977-2009.
  2. Recycling...A great big Thank You to all the Students and Staff that have been supporting the Wildcat recycling Program. The first trip to the Allen Recycling Company on Saturday October 27th generated $270.00 from the bottles and cans collected on campus. The next meeting of the Recycling Club will take place on Monday, October 26 in Room 403. See you there.  (Coach Cann)

  4. If you haven't joined the Wangenheim PTSA yet, you still have time!!  If you join before October 30th, all PTSA students will be entered into a drawing for an IPOD Shuffle and drawings for Movie Tickets.  All Student PTSA Members will have pizza for lunch on October 30th on the lunch court.  (PTSA)
  5. All Halloween costumes worn on Friday must be appropriate for school.  No midriffs showing.  If your costume has a short skirt, add leggings to it. No fake weapons of any kind.  Anyone with an inappropriate costume will have to call home for a change of clothes.  If you are not sure about your costume, please ask me about it on the lunch court this week.   6. Numbers Club meets every Thursday afterschool from 2:20 to 3:20 in Room 902.  Stop by if you like to play math games, Sudoku, or fold origami.  We are also looking for students interested in participating in Math Field Day, a math competition against other middle schools in the county.  (Ms. Bush and Ms. Esmende)

  • Students with a 3.0 GPA on the October 23 report card may apply for a book locker.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  • The Recycle Club will meet at 2:15 on Monday, October 19 outside of room 403. New members are always welcome. The meeting will last 10 minutes. See you there.  (Mr. Cann)
  • On Tuesday your "Lucky Duck" certificates will be collected on the lunch court during both lunches.  We will have a raffle for Jamba Juice cards and battery operated ducks!  Bring your certificates to the lunch court on TUESDAY!!!!  (ASB)
  • The ASB will be sponsoring a Halloween costume contest on Friday, October 30.  Wear your costumes to school.  Remember to follow the dress code rules.  Hats that are part of a full costume are okay.  Masks must be taken off while in class. No fake weapons.  Costumes must be appropriate for school.  Examples of inappropriate costumes are Playboy bunny, pimp, gang member, etc.  There will be great $$$$$ prizes for the winners.  (Mrs. Garrett)

  • The ASB fundraiser will run through Oct. 20th.  We’ll be selling cookie dough and magazines.  Proceeds will be used for a nice marquee for our school.  Good luck and sell, sell, sell!  (The ASB)
  • Thank you for following the new lunch procedures for football and spectators.  One more new change, we are going to allow soccer every Wednesday instead of football.  Thanks for your understanding.  Remember, no food or drinks in the spectator area.  (Mr. Strom)
  • Cakes and giant cookies are not allowed at school.  If you want to bring treats for your friends on your birthday you may bring individual cookies with no frosting.  The reason for this is that unfortunately some students make a mess with cake and frosting.
  • The Wangenheim late bus will be starting this week. On Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The bus will depart at 3:25. No late bus on minimum days.  (Mr. Strom)
  • The Recycling Club will meet today Monday, October 12, at 2:20 outside of room 403. We will be discussing our end of the month Recycling Activity.  New members are welcome...see you at the meeting.  (Coach Cann)
  • Kiana Oakry, Kristy Huynh and Molly Meas are running for ASB President!  You will see their posters around campus and can meet them on the lunch court.  We will have a school wide vote next Friday during your advisory class.  All three are GREAT candidates, but it's up to you to decide who you want to represent you!  (ASB)
  • Lucky Duck certificate raffle!!!!  Bring your Lucky Duck signed certificates to the lunch court next Friday and we’ll raffle off great prizes!  Don't bring it on Friday, Oct. 16th.  (ASB)
  • Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated during the week of Oct. 19-23.  ASB is sponsoring a poster contest.  The three best posters with anti-drug messages will win prizes:  1st place will win $30, 2nd Place - $20, and 3rd Place - $10.   Submit posters to Ms. Moreno by Oct. 19th.  Please show your school spirit and your commitment to a drug free lifestyle by participating in the themes of that week.  Those dressed according to the theme and wearing the red ribbon provided to you will receive a raffle ticket from your advisory teacher.  Fifteen names will be drawn to win a pizza party hosted by ASB and Ms. Moreno.  Red Ribbon Spirit Week will begin on October 19th with the following themes:

    Monday:  “Dreams come true when you are drug-free” – Wear Pajamas
    Tuesday:  “The Future is too bright to do drugs” – Wear bright colored clothing
    Wednesday:  “Too smart to start” – College Gear
    Thursday:  “Lei off drugs” – Hawaiian Theme
    Friday:  “Stay in the game and be drug free” – Sports theme

  • Congratulations to our Wildcats of the Month:  CJ M, Jake B, Ralph I, Aaliyah F and Melody L.  Wildcats of the Month are students who exemplify the Wildcat Way with consistently excellent citizenship. These students will be taken out to lunch by Mr. Jackson.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  • After School flag Football...All Wangenheim Students are invited to participate in The After School ( 2:20-3:20) Flag Football Program which begins Wednesday, October 7 and is sponsored by Coach Cann. Permission slips will be handed out at the first meeting. See you there. (Coach Cann)
  • Do you like origami, playing 24 Challenge, Sudoku, or math games?  The Numbers Club will be meeting every Thursday starting Oct. 8 after school from 2:20 to 3:20 in Room 902. (Bush and Esmende)
  • New football and spectator rules for lunch.  Students that want to watch the lunch football game must stand between the 700 building drinking fountain and the old lunch building.  No food or drinks will be allowed in this area. Players and spectators must take responsibility for themselves (Mr. Strom)

  • All students are required to have their planners with them every day.  Periodically, I will be checking planners in the lunch line and asking you to go to the end of the line if you do not have your planner or if it is not filled out properly.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  • ATTN:  All 8th graders who wish to go on our annual 8th grade East Coast trip.  The trip starts on June 5th and we will return on June 11th.  We will visit Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and Washington DC.  There will be a mandatory meeting on Oct 6 at 6:30pm in the auditorium.  This meeting is an informational meeting where your parents and yourselves can ask questions.  You will also meet the chaperons and receive the registration paperwork for this AWESOME trip. (Mr. Grendziak)
  • Wildcat Way shirts are for sale in the office.  See Ms. Alvarez.  T-shirts and sweatshirts are $5.00 each.  Students wearing a Wildcat Way shirt on Friday can cut to the front of the lunch line.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  • Popsicles will be on sale again this year after school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for $1.00.  You can find us by the Math Lab door.  Thanks to all of you last year who didn't litter and properly disposed of your trash!  We hope this will continue this year. (ASB)
  • On October 7th the cafeteria will serve a Western BBQ Lunch.  (Mrs. Sloan)

  1. We are now opening up book lockers to anyone with a 3.0 or above last year in academics or citizenship.  (Mrs. Sloan)

  3. We now have a peanut free table during both lunches.  If you are allergic to peanuts or other tree nuts please use the designated table for you and your friends. Look for the blue NO PEANUT sign.  All other students will be asked not to use this table.  Thanks for your cooperation.   (Mr. Strom)
  4. The only kind of glasses that students are allowed to wear at school are prescription glasses.  No costume glasses, please.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  5. The Wildcat Way word of the month is respect.  You can show respect for your teacher and classmates by listening in class and talking when it is your turn.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  6. Students who would like to participate in Wangenheim's Break Dance Club please pick up a permission slip to be signed by parents from Mrs. Ryder in 404 or Ms. Silva in 406 today.  Bring your signed permission slip to the Activity Room on Wednesday Sept. 23.  (Mrs. Ryder)

Starting tomorrow students may sign up for book lockers.  The first group to be issued lockers will be students with a 3.5 GPA in academics or citizenship, students with at least one proficient or better on the CST and students with a medical necessity.  Please bring your last report card, CST score paper or a doctor's note or note from the school nurse to Ms. Alvarez in the main office before or after school.  Students who have lost their report cards or test scores will be in the next round.  (Mrs. Sloan)

  1. MESSAGE FROM THE COUNSELORS:  Counselors will not honor requests to change schedules for the following reasons:  elective changes, lunch period changes, or teacher changes. (The Counselors)
  2. In order to minimize classroom disruptions we do not deliver missing homework, lunch money, PE clothes, lost books, etc. to the classrooms.  When parents deliver items to school, we hold those items in the office and write the child's name on the white board outside the  attendance office.  Students who see their name on the white board should report to the office to pick up their item.  Please check the white board if you are expecting a delivery from home.  We hope this policy will encourage students to be more responsible with their belongings.   3. LUNCH PRICES INCREASED:  $2.50 for Lunch
  4. PE UNIFORMS and LOCKS:  may be purchased in Room 111.  Cost is:  $10 for t-shirt, $12 for shorts and $13.00 for sweatshirts & sweatpants and locks cost $5.00.
  5. Please note that the Wangenheim campus is monitored by video surveillance.  The cameras are monitored by school police 24 hours a day.  Do not come onto campus on the weekends or after hours.  The cameras are also monitored by school office personnel.  If there is an incident on campus we can rewind the tape to see what happened.  Please be on your best behavior.  (Admin.)
  6. Students, you are responsible for ALL information posted in the school bulletins even if you are absent and even if your ADVISORY teacher forgets to read the bulletin.  The bulletins will be posted in every classroom.  If you are absent you can check the bulletins posted in the classroom or you can check the Wangenheim website.  If your teacher forgets to read the bulletin, please remind him or her.  (Mrs. Sloan)
  7. For safety reasons, the maximum size allowed for hoop earrings is 2 inches.  (Mrs. Sloan)
