Welcome To Wangenheim

Wangenheim Middle School sets the standard for middle level education. Our teachers are highly committed to continued professional development. As a community of learners we read current educational research, implement "best practices" teaching strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of their practice. Improving the academic achievement of Wangenheim students is our overriding school focus.

The diverse students at Wangenheim come together to form a cohesive group of adolescents. Come visit us during our lunch period and you will witness this yourself! Our students are cooperative, polite, respectful and eager to learn. As principal, I am proud to see how hard they work and how much they learn. Visitors to our school constantly comment on our students' good citizenship and their academic achievements.

Any description of our school would be incomplete without mentioning our Wangenheim families. Our families are supportive, caring and interested in their children's education. We can always count on them to serve on our school and district committees. They stand ready to help with special projects and events. Our PTSA is comprised of a dedicated group of parents who spend countless hours strengthening the ties between home and school.

The Wangenheim campus is spacious, clean and well landscaped. It is surrounded by several acres of open space and playing fields. Litter is almost non-existent and flowers bloom in carefully maintained beds on our lush green lawns. Our staff and students are proud of our campus and they strive to keep it looking great.

Wangenheim Middle School students do consistently well on the Scholastic Achievement Test. We have qualified for state awards for two consecutive years based on our Academic Performance Indicator scores. While standardized tests are only one measure of student achievement, our students score similarly well on other measures of academic achievement, including district reading and math tests and report card grades.

Wangenheim students have the opportunity to choose from a truly stellar electives program. Foreign language, art, wood and metal shop, photography, band, orchestra, chorus, webpage design, video production, ASB, keyboarding and computers are among the choices. All of our instructors are highly qualified and well respected in their fields. The elective program gives our students the opportunity to explore and grow in their area of interest.
