Wildcat Way
Character Education Program

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We encourage all students to work towards earning a Leadership, Character and Service Award. This award is part of our Wildcat Way character education program. The purpose of the award is to encourage all students to develop leadership skills, strengthen important character traits, and begin a life-long tradition of community service. The award is designed so that all Wangenheim students can earn it if they put in the effort. Our goal is to have as many students as possible earn the award.

Each grade level has a certain number of points which the students must earn to receive the award. To learn about all the ways the students can earn points in the areas of Leadership, Character and Service, you can either pick up the form in the Counseling Center or look at it on-line.

Students who earn the award will be honored in a special assembly at the end of the year when they will receive a special certificate. I hope that you will review the requirements with your child and encourage him or her to make the effort required to earn the award.

Please click here to see a detailed list of requirements.

If you have any questions about the award after you have reviewed it with your child, please feel free to e-mail me at lsloan@mail.sandi.net or call (858) 578-1400 x 2203.

Wildcat Recognition

Student Wildcat

Students who are following the 10 pillars of the Wildcat Way can be awarded a Wildcat Card by any staff member. These cards can be turned in to the raffle jar in the Counseling Center. Once a month we will have a raffle drawing which will be broadcast on the Friday Update.

Staff Wildcat

Students, parents and staff can recognize any staff member who demonstrates the pillars fo the Wildcat Way by filling out a Wildcat Card for that staff member. If you would like to honor a member of our staff, you can pick up a Staff Wildcat Card in the office or print one online.  Completed cards can be turned in to the office or counseling center. Each month we will draw one card and award a prize to a deserving staff member.

Wildcat Character, Leadership and Service Qualifications

This award will be available starting in the fall of 2004. Students can accumulate points by demonstrating their character, leadership and service to the community. Students will receive certificates and be honored in an assembly.

Wildcat of the Month

Each month 5 students will be chosen as "Wildcat of the Month." Students will be nominated for this award by the staff. The principal will choose from these nominations. The winners will be treated to lunch at a nearby restaurant with the principal. Students will receive certificates and be honored in an assembly.
